Obeetee’s New Quick-Ship Carpet Collection Benefits DIFFA

This October, Obeetee, leader in hand-woven carpets, launches its special quick-ship program, Obeetee Express. The program kicks off with an exclusive collection to benefit Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA). Fifteen New York-based interior designers and architects will create customizable carpet designs for the new DIFFA Collection. Through this partnership, Obeetee will support hundreds of nonprofit organizations across the country combating HIV/AIDS through preventive education, treatment, research, direct care and advocacy.
Commenting on the partnership, Rudra Chhaterjee, chairman, Obeetee, says, “Since Obeetee began nearly 100 years ago, we have made solid commitments to the social, economic and environmental impacts of our business on the community. The DIFFA ‘Specify With Care’ program is a great opportunity for the company to contribute to the efforts of the U.S. design community to fight AIDS.”
The participating designers will use the Obeetee Express color bank of almost 200 stocked colors to develop unique carpet designs, hand-tufted using 100 percent New Zealand wool. The designs will be available on the Obeetee Express website, which will allow customers to choose from a variety of colors, view the rugs in various room settings and print or email the sample to clients. Ten percent of the net sales from the DIFFA Collection will go to DIFFA regardless of the color selections.
The launch event for the DIFFA Collection takes place at the N.Y. Obeetee showroom, 137 W. 25 St., floor 12, on Oct. 19, 2017 and showcases the 15 designs as 3- by 5-foot area rugs. These pieces will be sold at the event during a silent auction, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to DIFFA.
The New York designers and architects creating the line are: Verda Alexander for Studio O+A, Arlene Angard, Asler Valero, William Reue, Christopher Trujillo, Tina Ramchandani, Patrick Hamilton, Darrin Varden, Marks & Frantz, dash design, Antonino Buzzetta, M Moser, Wuno, Wesley Moon, Michael Tavano and Reeta Gyamlani.
