A preview of new products on view during New York Home Textiles Market Week

There is plenty to do and see in New York City while you are here scouting out new resources during Home Textiles Market Week. Produced cooperatively by GLM, 230 Fifth Ave., and 7 W New York®, Home Textiles Market Week runs Friday, Aug. 17, through Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012.

Opening Market day for 7 W New York® is Friday, Aug. 17, while activities at 230 Fifth Ave. begin on Saturday, Aug. 18. The New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) also begins on Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 and 94.

At NYIGF, look for these first-time exhibitors in the At Home section featuring Home Textiles at the Javits Center: Cozy Earth, Echelon Home, Hedgehouse, Le Cote Francais Maison, Poetic Wanderlust, Pyar & Co., Simple Syrup Design House, Stamattina Fine Linens and Wabisabi Green: Modern Home Decor Eco Style.

Suppliers returning to NYIGF after an absence include: Anali, Hamburg House, Sinobrite and Thro. Auggie Home Collection, Black Pepper Dessin and Dallas Saunders are relocating into At Home from other NYIGF divisions.

At 7 W New York®, new showrooms include: Alkaram USA, Anand International, Gulamed Textile, Kalaty Rugs, Linens N Essentials, Magna Linen, Nishat Mills USA and Sam Salem & Son.

At 230 Fifth Ave., newcomers include: China Fortune, Cody Direct, Daniel Bath & Beyond/ Daniel Linen Inc. and Nancy Koltes Fine Linens.

A variety of educational seminars and social events are also planned for Market Week. NYIGF will present three IDCEC CEU-accredited seminars as well as presentations on business-enhancing topics, such as “Social Media: Building Business by Building a Buzz” and “Importing 101.”

The SustainAbility: design for a better world® initiative returns for the fifth year to the NYIGF, located in the Javits Center’s North Connector. The program features a juried exhibit of sustainable gift, home and lifestyle products, the Eco Choice Awards recognizing product innovation, and a seminar series addressing socially responsible business practices.

Events at 7 W New York® include showroom specials, product launches, live music, complimentary lunch vouchers, extended shopping hours and promotions. At 230 Fifth Ave., buyer-focused events and amenities include complimentary breakfast and lunch, promotional giveaways and showroom receptions.

Social events include the 61st Annual Retailer Excellence Awards on Sunday, Aug. 19, in the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers; and NYIGF’s “A Night on Broadway” featuring specially-priced tickets to “Evita” on Monday, Aug. 20. Buyers and suppliers will also be allowed free admission during Home Textiles Market Week to the N.Y. Historical Society on Central Park West at 77 St., upon presentation of a summer 2012 badge.
