One King’s Lane, the primarily online desination for home shopping and interior design services established in 2009, will open its first store this summer in Southampton, N.Y., marking the brand’s largest-scale retail opening to date. (One Kings Land currently operates a New York City showroom, where The Studio team takes design appointments.) Open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, the One Kings Lane Southampton brick-and-mortar shop will occupy the 3,500-square-foot ground floor space in the iconic former Rogers Memorial Library at 11 Jobs Lane. It will provide access to the brand’s assortment, complimentary design consultations with in-house interior designers, and a range of retail entertainment throughout the summer.
Why a brick-and-mortar shop? A company representative shares, “One Kings Lane is repositioning itself out of its flash sale model and into a dependable lifestyle brand. As seen in the success of the One Kings Lane headquarters-based showroom, a physical retail strategy is necessaary to continue supporting and engaging customers in personalized designing. Additionally, the Southampton location will showcase cash-and-carry items for the first time as well.”
The shop marks the first time the 11 Jobs Lane space will open its doors with a retail partner. Built in 1895, the two-storey library was designed by renowned architect R.H. Robertson. In the layout of the new shop, One Kings Lane aims to elevate the traditional retail format by creating an immersive lifestyle experience, showcasing product in a livable, but surprising, setting. The store will feature a curated product range, including exclusive furnishings and one-of-a-kind vintage pieces.
The company’s complimentary in-house design service, The Studio at One Kings Lane, will be a key feature, providing one-on-one appointments with the brand’s interior designers. Customers will book appointments on onekingslane.com, where they will be prompted to answer questions about their project and then matched with a designer. The store space will also be used for collaborative partnerships, interactive events and designer pop-ups.
“Opening our first street-level physical reatil location is a major step for One Kings Lane in our mission to help customers live their personal style, and we are thrilled to be able to do so in such an iconic summer destination,” says Debbie Propst, president, One Kings Lane. “As we are always looking to push the boundaries of traditional retail, partnering with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank Retail to occupy the historic 11 Jobs Lane space felt like the perfect fit and will undoubtedly be a terrific way to engage the local community and be an organic, local resource for home and design.”
